POMODORO HOST – FILOMENA PANNOZZO – FOUNDER, L’IMPRONTA AZIENDA AGRICOLA
This place is magical; there is life among the olive groves, a magnetic relationship is formed. Even though I was not born here, I feel that I have been a part of it for centuries. This is my story. This is how the L’Impronta “the Imprint” was born; just like the footprint of the farmer impressed into the Mother Earth.
FILOMENA PANNOZZO, founder, of L’IMPRONTA AZIENDA AGRICOLA says ‘The IMPRINT’ (l’Impronta) which our forefathers left in the red soil of this land is what inspired the name of her olive oil business. Recently, she gave me an insight into what led her on this venture and inspired her to introduce this olive oil to the world.
Our company was born from the idea of love. Love for the authentic things, for the territory, and most of all for our olive groves. If you are tired, burdened by your thoughts, or by the weight of life, just take a walk between the olive plants and they seem to talk to you and they know how to calm your body and soul! The leaves tell of the past centuries and of our grandparents who struggled to help them grow; and once you’re here amongst them, it seems that your dilemmas pass like a gust of wind!
Yes, this place is magical; there is life among the olive groves, a magnetic relationship is formed. Even though I was not born here, I feel that I have been a part of it for centuries. This is my story. This is how the L’Impronta “the Footprint” was born; just like the footprint of the farmer impressed into the Mother Earth. The curiosity of those who lived here amongst the olive trees and those who worked the land before us, inspired us to get to know more about them, and therefore we did some research at the Local Council Offices in Lenola, to find out who they were. From this insight, the names of the three olive oils we produce, were born.
The oils from these olive groves are blended from the varieties of the prized Itrana and Carboncella olives. L’Impronta carefully combines a combination of olives and different processing methods, based on when the olive is ready for harvesting, this is the secret, to produce the three varieties.
Maria Sofia, wife of the King of Naples and known for her warrior characteristics.
Titta Furioso, the unscrupulous leader of the outlaws, the Briganti, and feared by the people.
Giulietta, the most beautiful countess of the noble house of Fondi.
This is the concept we want to express. We are genuine and unique as those trees who in turn teach and cultivate us – living and thinking olive groves that guide us and not the other way around. For example, fewer olives were picked this year. This is because we always strive to uphold the concept of genuineness and authenticity. We would rather see the olives drop to the earth rather than pick those that we consider are not perfect for providing the genuine extra virgin olive oil we stand by. So we will wait for another year, weather permitting.
Filomena will be our host on Day 5 and she will take us on a tour of the olive groves where you too will feel the magic of this land and taste the fruit of their labour.
(The individual characteristics of the three olive oils will be featured in a more detailed and comprehensive article in the History page of this website).
