Short Breaks - Destinations

From Rome or Naples you can take a short break tour to enjoy an authentic experience beyond the big cities where you can see Italian life in towns which you will not find in any guide books.

We take you to our favourite spots in the Roman countryside to see how the locals live, eat, socialise and enjoy the beauty that surrounds them in this undiscovered corner of Italy in the region of Southern Lazio.

Tell us what appeals to you from our Destinations and we will put together an itinerary. All you need to do is sit back, relax and enjoy the best food, wine and travel experiences this area has to offer.

Requirements: minimum of 3 days 2 nights.

SAMPLE ITINERARY

Day 1 – The Roman countryside

We depart for the Roman countryside where our host welcomes you like a long lost friend at the family run Bertacco Farmhouse.  Here you will enjoy an authentic lunch set amid the olive groves, vineyards, and fields of grain at this unique property, as you hear the owner tell his inspiring story.

We then meander through country roads visiting quaint medieval hilltop towns, as we make our way towards the sea.

After arriving at our exclusive hideaway accommodation in the mountains, you will marvel at the stunning scenery while enjoying an aperitivo and supper.

Day 2 – Sun and Seas

Today we explore the coastal gems starting with Gaeta, once an important major port ruled by the Kings and Queens of the Court.  Walk along Via Indipendenza, which still evokes the times of old when the seafarers would frequent the bars and inns along this historic alley.

Visit the town’s main attractions including the legend of the spectacular Montagna Spaccata, before making our way to a secluded beach cove for lunch by the sparkling seaside.

Spend the afternoon relaxing on your very own lounge bed with umbrella or take a dip in the clear turquoise waters.

We then travel along the picturesque coast and visit the Archeological Museum, villa and cave of the roman emperor Tiberius.

Wander around the old, narrow, whitewashed alleys of the charming hilltop village of Sperlonga a location ranked consistently in the top ten beach resorts in Italy.  Enjoy dinner at a local favourite restaurant by the sea.

Day 3 – Cooking Class and dinner for a King

After a leisurely breakfast, your host Pina will walk with you around her abundant farm, showing you the animals, vegetable patches, olive grove, vineyard and the wild herb-laden hills.   After collecting this fresh produce, Pina will guide you through a masterclass in local cooking which we will enjoy in the lovely gardens.

In the afternoon, we head off to tastings at a boutique winery with historic ‘roots’ founded by the Romans.   We visit the hilltop village of Campodimele where most people live to be over 100 years old and find out what is their secret.

This evening’s highlight degustation dinner is at Lo Stuzzichino, where your acclaimed and awarded Masterchef Francesco has had the honour of cooking for Belgian royalty, and not just the once.

Day 4

After breakfast, we say goodbye and transfer back to Rome in the early morning where your next adventure begins.
